Palo Alto Firefighter Lee Taylor has been growing peppers in the fire station backyard since 1994. After each harvest he would make his famous and zesty pepper sauce, which quickly became a hot commodity. Previously available only to firefighters in Palo Alto, this sauce uses the highest quality ingredients; Lee has crafted the simplest ingredient list into a complex, full flavor sauce that both stands on its own and plays well with other foods. All proceeds go to Palo Alto Firefighters Charitable Fund!
TRY IT ON: Tacos, bean & cheese burritos, chili, enchiladas, BBQ, or any food you would put a traditional 'taco sauce' on.
HEAT LEVEL: Medium
This sauce has decent heat, found it tastes best on tacos. Not as great with some other dishes, but worth the purchase just for tacos alone.
We received some sample packets of this with our first Fuego Box. We liked it so much, I made it a point to watch the on-site shop so I could buy a full bottle if it ever appeared. I'm really glad I did, because this sauce is probably one of our favorites so far. It reminds me of something I'd get at a favorite local taco place -- the type of thing that would keep me coming back to that restaurant to the same degree the actual tacos do. Great all-purpose sauce -- perfect on Mexican food, eggs, and pretty much anything else you'd ever consider putting hot sauce on! Definitely worth a try.
Has a nice smokey flavor with good heat. Adds an instant savory flavor upgrade and a touch of heat to your food.
Fuego Box included some pouches in my first box and I loved this sauce. Flavorful with plenty of kick. Makes average tacos great.
Not particularly exciting or unique but not bad either. Definitely an easy fall-back hot sauce.
