This seasonal sauce is centered around the Hatch Chile Season, an annual chile-head treasure hunt. Its small production and limited distribution make it a coveted favorite that sells out quickly (sometimes referred to as “The Pliny of Hot Sauces”). Hell, I don’t even know how Fuego Box talked Infinity into parting with most of their inventory (must have been the shared Hatch-Quatch Margaritas).
TRY IT ON: Baked potatoes, sour cream dip, green bean casserole, roasted brussels sprouts, tamale pie (Thanksgiving leftovers), and straight-up avocados. HEAT LEVEL: Medium
This is a relatively mild hatch green pepper sauce, that reminds me of a lot of green salsas. I've used it a ton on burrito bowls, eggs, and cowboy caviar. It ups the heat level and adds a ton of flavor and tanginess. Great stuff!
The only bad thing about this sauce is the limited availability and how quickly it goes. I'll be blunt. I'm from Colorado, and Green Chili's are life where I come from. This brings an incredible Hatch Chili flavor to any savory dish. I'm eagerly awaiting it's release next year, when I'll be hard pressed to NOT buy an entire pallet's worth for my own personal use.
Normally we can kind of take or leave really mild hot sauces, but this one is a real winner. Both my fiance and I absolutely loved it and went through the bottle relatively quickly because it was good on everything we like to eat. Tacos, mac and cheese, eggs, steak, chicken -- you name it and this sauce is terrific on it. Tons of flavor. Perfect balance. The next time it's back in stock, I'll be buying more, I assure. Probably our favorite sauce we've received so far with our Fuego subscription.
My only complaint about this hot sauce is it's viscosity... it's a little too liquid so I use it up fast! Amazing flavor.
The hatch chilis are real tasty in this squatchy sauce.
